Business Start-up and Business Integration

Building up a company is a big chance to design a new organisation free of burdens of the past. This requires people who take a holistic approach, who have a good overview of the functions of a company, and who know what does work and what does not.

In this case, we could take on the overall project mana- gement function and ensure that the company will be built up effectively and efficiently within the given time and budget.

Unlike building up a company, business integration means, forming a new business out of two so far independently acting companies with their deep-rooted cultures and business processes.

In many cases synergies related to an acquisition are not realised, because a truly integration takes only place on top management level, whereas the operating levels still work like before. It is apparent that only by a consequent integration of all levels with equal or similar functions synergies can be realised.

Unfortunately, it is also very common that the executive managers of the overtaking company try to transfer their culture and approach to the overtaken company without any previous examination. The result is almost inevitably that the employees of the overtaken company become demotivated, because they feel themselves like the losers of the whole integration process. The risk is, that the high performers leave the company and the others work to rule.

Hereby, we as neutral external consultants can act as mediators with the necessary sensitivity. Normally, we get a much better acceptance than internal people.
